The German-Brazilian Working Group is an initiative organized by CAM-CCBC and DIS aimed at promoting dialogue and knowledge exchange on international arbitration between Brazil and Germany.

 

Through this collaborative platform, experts, lawyers, academics, and professionals in the field discuss relevant topics related to dispute resolution, addressing challenges, opportunities, and best practices to enhance the use of arbitration in both countries.

Leadership

The group is co-chaired by Tim Rauschning (Germany) and Cristina Mastrobuono (Brazil).

FCIArb. Brazilian lawyer and arbitrator based in São Paulo, focused on complex disputes involving infrastructure and public contracts. She is president of a Dispute Board in a rail concession and advises investors on contracts with public entities. Holds a JD from USP, an LL.M. from the University of Chicago, and a specialization in Corporate Law from FGV.

Acts as counsel and arbitrator. He specializes in complex disputes, in particular international arbitrations, with a focus on commercial, corporate and energy-related disputes as well as investment arbitrations. He has extensive experience in managing complex disputes and damage issues (incl. business valuations aspects).

FCIArb. Secretary General of CAM-CCBC with over 12 years of experience in arbitration. Lawyer in São Paulo, FCIArb Fellow, and USP Law graduate. She acts as counsel and case manager and frequently speaks and writes on arbitration and ADR.

Associated Partner at Kapellmann und Partner, with a practice focused on commercial and investment arbitration, especially in construction and renewable energy. Sits as arbitrator and speaks German, Italian, English, and Portuguese. Qualified in Germany and active in international arbitration forums.

Lawyer and arbitrator with over 26 years of experience in domestic and international arbitration, especially in construction and corporate disputes. Founding partner at Beneti Advocacia and listed by institutions such as CAM-CCBC and ICC. Holds a JD from PUC-SP, an LL.M. from LSE, and a Ph.D. from USP.

Brazilian lawyer based in Berlin, currently Counsel at the German Arbitration Institute (DIS). Law graduate from PUC-Rio with an LL.M. in German and European Law from Humboldt University. Also holds a postgrad degree in Digital Law from UERJ/ITS.

FCIArb. German attorney and international arbitrator in commercial disputes across civil and common law systems. Listed with ICC, ICDR, DIS, among others, with experience in over 65 countries. Holds an LL.M. in global business law and is the author of publications on arbitration and public policy.

Associate Professor at UERJ and in-house counsel at Petrobras. Doctor of Law from USP with postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute. Expert in private international law and founding partner at Gruenbaum, Rivoli e Cereja Advogados. Regularly engaged in complex civil and international matters.

Founding partner at Verçosa Advocacia and professor at FGV Rio Law School. Arbitrator since 2012 and experienced counsel since 2000. Ph.D. and Master in International Law from UERJ, with research at the Hamburg Max Planck Institute. Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Arbitration Journal (RBA).

Partner at Taylor Wessing with extensive experience in international arbitration, acting as both arbitrator and counsel. His practice focuses on commercial law, including licensing, distribution, corporate matters, and joint ventures. Fluent in five languages and active in associations promoting Europe–Latin America cooperation in dispute resolution.

FCIArb. Brazilian lawyer with over 10 years of experience in arbitration and litigation, acting as counsel and tribunal secretary. Focus on infrastructure, corporate, IP, and tech disputes across Brazil, Europe, and the Middle East. LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution from Humboldt University.

German attorney focused on commercial and corporate arbitration and litigation. Holds a doctorate from the University of Cologne and law degree from Humboldt University. Experienced in international cases and leads the Brazilian Desk at WAGNER. Fluent in English, Portuguese, and German.

An international dispute resolution enthusiast with experience in both Brazil and Germany, bringing a unique perspective on the European and Latin American markets. She holds an LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and is an alumna of the program.

Specialist in state-related arbitration and international economic law. Coordinates CBAr's working group and is a member of IBDA. Holds a Master’s from PUC-SP and an LL.M. from Duke University.

Professor of Business Law at USP with over 25 years in litigation and arbitration. Recognized by Leaders League for expertise in corporate legal opinions and arbitration. Author of academic works on corporate liability, minority rights, and joint stock company governance.

Partner at CMS Germany, with focus on domestic and international arbitration and litigation. Specialist in energy and post-M&A disputes. Heads the Brazilian Desk and is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration. Worked in Brazil in 2011 on major arbitration cases.

Professor at FGV-SP, independent arbitrator (FCIArb), and legal expert in Private Law. Holds a Ph.D. from USP, with research at LMU Munich and Augsburg University. Co-founder of the AGIRE legal newsletter and experienced in cross-border legal education.

Lawyer and arbitrator with 40 years of experience in domestic and international disputes. LL.M. from Heidelberg University. Former State Attorney of Rio de Janeiro and legal consultant to the German Consulate. Founding member of German-Portuguese legal associations.
